Swim Lake Washington
A summer 2020 quest

Yarrow Point Beach Park

Home  Locations  Resources
Type: Public Park
Address: 9000 NE 47th St, Yarrow Point
Visited on: 9/7/2020

Notes:
A very nicely developed park. The access street sports an artesian fountain where you turn to descend to the beach! This is apparently an artifact of the early European development of Yarrow Point when artesian water from the Houghton area was piped in for the residents. There is a plaque here that provides some historical information about the site: native Americans used the point, there was farming activity here after European settlement, and this was a ferry crossing to Seattle. There is a large dock (with three men fishing when I visited), a well-tended lawn, stairways down to the beach area, and a roped off swim area. The bottom, however, is quite rocky. There is only a modest amount of parking on the street and the only legal parking at the street end is a handicapped spot.
