Type: Private Park Address: 5101 Kenilworth Pl NE, Seattle Visited on: 8/10/2020
Notes:
Not a public park - land side access only to Windermere residents. However, it is possible to swim to Windermere Park, which we did from NE 43rd Street End. This is about as close as you can get if you're not a Windermere resident. The beach area is not visible from the gate but is nicely outfitted with a long dock having a slide and diving platform. There was even a jetski tied up at the dock. The biggest surprise of all, however, was the large natural area to the south of the playfield. It's clearly visible on a satellite view. Near the shore, the understory was cleared out, leaving room for picnic tables and even a porta-potty! Swimming away from the beach we were surpised by the large reef, looking very un-natural, that was built from 15-20cm crushed rock and extended out from shore probably 50m. |
