Notes:
A small park at the southern-most end 84th avenue in Medina, west of Bellevue's Meydenbauer Bay. We swam toward Groat Point keeping close to the docks on a blustery mid-October day. With the drop in water temperature the water clarity has increased so the bottom was clearly visible to depths of 3-4m. And, since the bottom sloped away from the shore rather gently, we had good aquatic views. A rather large house dominated the view at our Groat Point turnaround. It looked much like a mediterranean villa, sprawled along the shore with palm trees wagging in the wind out front! Our water entry was off the end of the dock with your choice of jumping in or climbing down the available ladder. Like most of the street end parks we visited on this journey the abutting property owners have put up a fence to keep out the riffraff. Nonetheless, it's a beautiful location, well-situated and well-maintained. There's room for a handful of cars to park, a stairway and accompanying bike or wheelchair ramp to the lower level, a picnic table for four, and a bench at the dock end for sitting and enjoying the urban views and sunset. For those who venture close to the shore in the water expect to find fist-sized cobbles on the bottom.
