A summer 2020 quest

Chinook Beach Park

Type: Public Park
Address: 9560 Rainier Ave S, Seattle
Visited on: 8/19/2020

Notes:
A small park just south of an apartment building near the intersection of Rainier Avenue and Seward Park Avenue. It's a narrow strip more than 100m long sandwiched in between Rainier Avenue and Lake Washington. The park is in a very natural state with much of the land covered in heavy growth, a narrow gravel beach at the water's edge, and several fallen trees in the water. Be careful of the submerged portion of the trees if you choose to swim here. The gravel is very comfortable underfoot and slopes away underwater and disappears into the greenish haze that defines Lake Washington water. When I first set out on my swim a large fish (>60cm long) swam away from me into the darker waters. The whole park is a lovely counterpoint to busy Rainier Avenue that's just steps away.
