Notes:
This street end park is at the end of a steep street that looks much like the driveway that it also is. It's open without overgrown brush and a pleasant little piece of lawn right at the water's edge. For seated viewing, there is a comfortable bench. Just a couple of easy steps down large rocks and you're standing in the water on a comfortable bottom. You'll see the remnants of an old pier and the stumps of long ago logged trees. When I took off to swim to the north I discovered I was in an area of GINOURMOUS boats! So many big boats. I swam north until I encountered a surprise gravelled peninsula bursting out into the lake; so different from the rest of the shoreline. Should you decide to sample this beach parking is a bit tricky: you can park only along the east side of Rainier Avenue, but early in the morning there's plenty of room. In addition, there are a set of stairs that descend the hill on the west side of Rainier Avenue that will enable you to cross over and walk down to the lake. |
